Guitarist, singer and songwriter Albert Castiglia [pronounced ka-steel-ya] was born Aug. 12, 1969 in New York, the son of a Cuban mother and an Italian father, guitarist, singer and songwriter Albert Castiglia, made his professional debut in 1990 when he joined the Miami Blues Authority, and was named ‘Best Blues Guitarist’ in Miami in 1997 by New Times Magazine.
When legendary harmonica player Junior Wells heard him sing perform, he immediately hired him for his touring band. Castiglia accompanied Wells on several world tours before Junior passed away in 1998.
Albert struck out on his own and releasing, “Burn,” in 2002 and “A Stone’s Throw” in 2006.
In 2014 he signed with Ruf Records, and released “Solid Ground”, which hit the Top Ten on Billboard’s Blues Charts in May, 2014.
Albert’s second recording for Ruf, produced by Mike Zito, is scheduled for worldwide release on May 20, 2016.
Castiglia is young by blues standards, but carries the depth of live, studio and life experience, and is poised to become a major force behind the rebirth of blues and blues-rock.
