Christine Lavin; also Julie Gold and David Ippolito

February 17, 2017 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Tickets $25 advance, $30 door

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Christine Lavin’s humor is always accessible, but always intelligent: she has appeared alongside celebrity astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson at The Beacon Theater (NYC) as part of his “Astronomy/Comedy Tour” for Star Talk Radio; and Tyson included the complete lyrics to Christine’s “Planet X” in his book on Pluto. You may come to her show for her wit, but you’ll stay for her deeper, more poignant songs, and come back for more. Christine received the 2012 NYC Nightlife Award given annually to the best concert and cabaret performers. Lavin’s book COLD PIZZA FOR BREAKFAST: A MEM-WHA?? won ASCAP’s 43rd award for excellence in non-fiction writing about pop music.

Julie Gold is a New York songwriter best known for Bette Midler’s version of her song, “From A Distance,” which won the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1991. That song has since received close to 4 million air plays. A wide range of recording artists have covered it, singers from Jewel to Cliff Richard to The African Children’s Choir to Judy Collins to The Byrds to Donna Summer–just to name a few

For the past 24 years—an entire generation—David Ippolito has been better known to hundreds of thousands of people in New York City, across the country, and around the world as “That Guitar Man From Central Park” (thatguitarman.com). His music is a blend of life, love, commonality, social conscience, political satire and fun. Calling himself “Just about the luckiest man alive,” he has 9 albums to his credit, has written several plays, and most recently his first Broadway-style musical: Possibility Junkie.
