Dahlia’s wanderlust and nomadic spirit is apparent in her music – giving herself to every culture and community she encounters, and adopting beautiful, seductive sounds from around the world.
Based in Brooklyn with an annual French pilgrimage, ‘Blue Dahlia’ plays a vibrant mix of world music – from French chanson to reggae and klezmer, influenced by the group’s backgrounds in NYC, France, Senegal, Japan, Argentina and Mexico. Mexican and French accordion, violin, a soaring horn section, make a grooving rhythm section. Dahlia’s bright ukulele and lyrics in French and in English create an organic sound with an electric energy.
Here the delicate strength of Edith Piaf meets the naughty intelligence of Serge Gainsbourg, with the pulsing rhythms of Alpha Blondy. Blue Dahlia has been performing throughout NYC, Paris and the world. Credits include France Rocks Summerfest, the Blue Note and La Bellevilloise.
Dahlia’s debut album was released in 2015, and the second is taking form as her presence grows in NYC, Europe and the world.
