Ed Palermo Big Band presents the EDDYS

On New Year’s Eve – Ed Palermo hosts a thoroughly suspicious award program – THE EDDYS, A Night of a Thousand Jerk-Offs – with Guests Host, Napoleon Murphy Brock.

Ed’s interpretation of the music of iconoclastic composer Frank Zappa has brought him wide recognition. His first CD of this material, “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa”, garnered rave reviews. Downbeat magazine gave “the ed palermo big band plays the music of frank zappa” a 4-star review. Palermo’s second CD of Zappa material, entitled “Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance” has been received with equal enthusiasm from publications all over the world, including another rave from Downbeat.

Ted Kooshian’s STANDARD ORBIT QUARTET performs Ted’s unique arrangements of influential music from his past (the 1960’s to now!) – including TV themes, cartoon themes, and pop tunes. They have been performing since 2006 – their first CD, “Ted Kooshian’s Standard Orbit Quartet,” was released to critical acclaim in February of 2008, and their second CD, “Underdog, And Other Stories…,” was released August 11, 2009, and is on two “top 10 jazz CD’s of 2009” lists.
