Jonah Smith returns to the Falcon to perform songs from his latest release, “Easy Prey” with longtime musical colleague, Andy Stack. The two will also focus on material from their acoustic releases, “Brooklyn Session” (2009) and “In The Kitchen” (2013) as well as new material for an upcoming release. They will be joined by special guests, Hudson Valley’s, The Package for a portion of the show. The talented rhythm section comprising of Lee Falco (drums) and Brandon Morrison (bass) has backed many great artists such as Bill Payne of Little Feat and blues legend, Bill Sims, Jr.
“You’re the real deal! You can play, you can sing, you are terrific!” – Howard Stern
Smith began recording “Easy Prey” with Music Road in Austin, TX. In addition to long-time band mates, he welcomed many special guests – David Hidalgo, of Los Lobos, plays blazing licks over the riff rock of “Turn Down The Moon”. Jess Wolfe and Holly Laesig of Lucius provide harmonies on “Make Me Change My Mind” that harken back to Phil Spector’s wall of sound. Guitarist, Adam Levy provides a beautiful solo on the title track as well as tasteful playing on other cuts. This album marks the return of saxophonist, Bob Reynolds (John Mayer, Snarky Puppy), a band mate of Smith’s for his first three records. He fills out a killer horn section on several songs and plays a beautiful solo on the outro of “On Love We Can Survive”.
Smith wrote and produced every song on this stunning album. Jonah’s deep experience as a performer and storyteller will be on display for his long-awaited return to the Falcon stage.
