Susanna and Al first started playing together, along with friends, at the Sherman Song Swap the early 2000’s, each as a member of different bands, Susy with Red Dirt Road, Red and Yeller and multiple independent collaborations; and Al with Cripple Creek, co-hosting the Sherman Song Swap and several Open Mic Nights in the area over the years. Their first public performance as a duo was in 2010 for the SoNo Arts Festival in South Norwalk, Connecticut. From that event on, they have worked to popularize their style and special mix of original and cover music from a variety of genres. Since then, they have established a songwriting and music production collaboration (Lumos Music) and have been performing regularly at local venues and special events. The group’s name, LUMOS, evolved from the Harry Potter series of books, where it was used as the magic incantation to create light. One of their more notable achievements of late, was the creation of the Ole Sherman Opry, a celebration of the extensive local talent and diversity of music in western Connecticut, which debuted in February as a fundraiser at (and for) the Sherman Playhouse. Tickets are $10 if purchased online up to midnight 7/1/16. $15 at the door.
