The Merlin and Polina Shepherd Klezmer Duo features two of the world’s greatest virtuosos and innovators combining forces in a spiritual celebration of cross-cultural world music.

UK-born Merlin Shepherd is widely regarded as one of the top klezmer clarinetists in the world, equally adept at re-creating Old World sounds as he is at channeling a panoply of New World influences, including classical, jazz, funk, and Balkan sounds.

Siberian-born Polina Shepherd is a pianist and composer who boasts a mind-blowing four-octave vocal range. Having grown up in predominantly Muslim Tatarstan, Polina absorbed Islamic ornamentation and timbre in addition to the sounds of Russian, southern Mediterranean, and traditional Yiddish music.

Together, Merlin and Polina Shepherd make a strong musical argument for a truly global village.
