The NYSM All-Stars and Jazz Band are celebrating the completion of another school year and the success of their colleagues. Three band members have been accepted into music programs at Berkeley College of Music and SUNY Fredonia!

The New York School of Music All-Stars

The NYSM All Stars cover everything from the current pop hits on the radio to old well-loved standards. Perfect for any social gathering to keep the energy up, add atmosphere, and even get some feet on the dance floor!

The New York School of Music Jazz Band

The New York School of Music Jazz Band started as an experiment during NYSM’s Rock Camp USA 2016 session. A few students decided they would like to try something different and play some jazz. They have since committed to to regular rehearsals focused on becoming a pro-level performing ensemble. Their current repertoire includes jazz classics as well as some more modern pieces—all delivered in their own unique, developing style.

The NYSM All-Stars and Jazz Band are select groups of New York School of Music’s top students that tour local events in the Hudson Valley throughout the year. Each member is an active young artist. They participate in multiple ensembles at NYSM and in school and many of them are multi-instrumentalists.
The groups are directed by Dave Miele, a long standing member of the NYSM Instructors team. Dave has been published in Modern Drummer Magazine and Jazz Improv Magazine, for which he has written four cover features. He has been a private music instructor for over twenty years and has taught at the New York School of Music since 2000.
The groups rehearse rigorously at New York School of Music’s Walden location, where many participate in private lessons, group programs, and rock camps. They have received invitations to Bethel Woods Center for Performing Arts, Orange County Choppers Cafe, and area music festivals.
