The Museum is excited to welcome back R. J. Storm and Old School Bluegrass Band, based in Beacon, NY, for an evening of classic Bluegrass and Folk music. R. J. Storm and Old School are a quartet of musicians that have performed their brand of energetic, artistic, and engaging Bluegrass venues all over the Hudson Valley as well as at the Newport Folk Festival.
This quatet creates a refreshing musical experience for all to enjoy. Bringing together tasteful instrumental musicianship, rich harmonies and an energetic stage presence, you can tell they enjoy playing great music in their own unique and innovative Bluegrass style. Weaving together the steady rhythm of the guitar (Pete Prieto – guitar) along with both classic and bluesy-melodic style banjo picking (RJ Storm-banjo), supported by the big sound of the double bass (Steve Taylor-bass) and clasic old time fiddle work (Ambrose Verdibello-Fiddle) the vocals sail out at the audience and the story of each and every song grips you. With their classic “Old School” sound enhanced by the single mic footprint, the instrumental and vocal artistry weaves in and out creating their unique sound.
Drawing from good old Lester and Earl, as well as the worlds of blues, jazz, and rock, R. J. Storm and Old School seeks to entertain and give the audience an experience of something great that they can take home and recount at the supper table. R. J. says “there is no greater honor then to know that you have put on a great show and that, with the audience, you have made lasting memories that will be talked about tomorrow.” R. J. Storm and Old School have appeared with artists such as Pete Seeger, Tom Chapin and many others.
