Rene Bailey uses her vocal clarity to sell the blues with true feeling. Mixing Gospel, jazz, and rhythm/blues, she sang with Louis Armstrong, BB King, Aretha, Brubeck, Ruth Brown, Paul Anka, Sam Cooke, & many more… Rene Bailey started singing Gospel as a kid in her Georgia church. Moving to NYC, she hit the scene where she sang blues & jazz. The transition from Gospel to nightclub work came naturally, & Rene became the vocalist at Peg Leg Bates’ Club for 20 years. In church it’s called “shouting”-the Gospel dance. “They get up and shout & shout.” In a club when Rene Bailey sings, and “it” hits, you yell, “Yes, indeed!
