[Alex P] Wernquest’s restraint on the guitar is commendable, and his style of playing is just casual enough to be truly endearing.
As a lyricist, Wernquest is among the best we’ve featured…His words read like a pastiche of modern literary greats.”
Come see/hear why the Philadelphia City Paper dubbed Stephen Bluhm a “lullaby maven” some years ago. “The lullaby album is my Smile (joke). I began sort of a concept album of lullabies for adults in 2008. I wrote some very nice songs for it. And then sort of lost interest and/or discipline. Some of the songs turned into other things. But I recently wrote some new songs and realzed they’d be a great match with the older stuff. I finished up old ideas and fragments. Many of the songs have sort of a religious/spiritual nature, sort of like Leonard Cohen or Nick Cave. Thus, I have dubbed the album “Agnostic Lullabies for Adults.” The songwriting for the album is pretty much done, but is in only the very early stages of pre-production. Nevertheless, I’ll be posting demos of the album on my bandcamp. I’m really proud of this stuff so don’t want to wait until months/years go by before I can share it. For this show, I’ll just play the album through.”
