SUMMARY:Tweed Funk
DESCRIPTION:Featuring: Joseph “Smokey” Holman who recorded under Curtis Mayfield in the 1970s on the Curtom label \nhttp://www.tweedfunk.com\nFormed in late 2010\, Tweed Funk’s national ascent has been driven by their horn-fueled\, Memphis flavored blues\, roots\, and soul. This six-piece\, Milwaukee\, Wisconsin soul-blues revue is fronted by Joseph “Smokey” Holman\, who recorded under Curtis Mayfield in the early 70’s. In the last four years\, Tweed Funk boasts five Wisconsin area music industry (WAMI) wins for the band and its members. The band released their fourth album “Come Together”\, which is receiving excellent reviews and charting on the national blues charts. \n“Come Together” — incredibly — is its best offering yet. The inspirational and autobiographical “Sweet Music” is on par with Daptone Records soul darlings Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley.” – Piet Levy\, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel \n“Tweed Funk was formed in 2010\, and has been bringing the party to Milwaukee ever since. They got the horns\, they got the rhythm section\, they got Smokey Holman\, the dynamic front man. Tweed Funk call themselves a show band\, and they are proud of it. And now they are bringing a piece of that Milwaukee R&B to the world.” – Dan Aykroyd (a.k.a. Elwood Blues) \nLove Ain’t Easy:\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsLL0pMHjSQ \nLiving Blues Magazine feature on Joseph “Smokey” Holman:\nhttp://digital.livingblues.com/publication/?i=244086&p=38 \n
