(August 12, 2016) – The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival is an annual event highlighting local talent and venues that support jazz.

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival highlights local talent in a festival context alongside nationally and internationally known artists. This year, the festival will include area musicians that haven’t been part of this series in the past.

Festival organizers recognize the fact that the Hudson Valley contains a tremendous amount of talented musicians, and the festival provides a platform for many of them to be recognized. According to the festival’s website, “This has been our way of having the local community of talent, deserving of recognition, share the spotlight with these better known artists. Almost every show and artist selected is made possible by the presenting venue. Most of the venues presenting shows select who will perform.”

While festival organizers recommend artists, the primary goal is to promote local jazz musicians and shape programming to be inclusive and diverse.

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival honors the venues that regularly present live music and the bands that help keep this alive and well, and welcome any additional sponsoring venues, different musicians and styles for each new season.
