Differents

The chemistry between Joe and Trisha Pallo comes along once in a generation…..in fact Joe and Trisha have a musical synergy that is so effective it has even progressed through to their personal lives (a happily married couple for over fifteen years).

Trisha is one of the most dynamic singers you will ever experience. From the second she begins a song, it is clear that she “owns it”. Trisha’s vast repertoire encompasses multiple styles and genre…yet there is no mistaking her own unique style no matter what the composition. Trisha can be as angelic as Adele at one moment, and in the next instant belt out a Janis Joplin tune with unmatched authenticity. Her range and versatility is incredible, but perhaps her most endearing quality is her uncanny ability to relate to her audience. Her passion for what she does is undisputed…and by the time her first set is finished, everyone watching and listening feels that Trisha is performing just for them.

Trisha’s inspired vocals, as compelling as they are on their own, become even more effective with Joe’s incomparable guitar playing. Using just the right amount of dynamics in his chord comping, Joe is able to compliment Trisha’s versatility and passion. One listen will demonstrate that a strong chemistry exists between these two. Joe can move effortlessly between sultry ballads by James Taylor and Keith Urban to pop favorites by Tom Petty and Talking Heads…. and he’ll even belt out a mean Johnny Cash if asked to!
But the power of Joe and Trish together is never more evident than when they alternate melodies on classic duets, or harmonize together with a strength and cohesiveness that can bring chills to the most seasoned listener. The charisma these performers have is immediately evident, and is the result of decades of making music together as one of the Hudson Valley’s most working duos.

Joe’s vision and business acumen is the foundation for The Differents, and he has an uncanny ability to understand what the audience is looking for, and be able to deliver it in the most professional manner. He is meticulous in his preparation, and is adamant about having the most compact yet sophisticated sound system, all with the intent of providing exceptional entertainment and stellar fidelity in an unobtrusive package. His decades of providing quality entertainment throughout the tri-state area has given him unparalleled experience in knowing exactly what will work for the client or venue, no matter what the situation calls for. The vast repertoire he shares with Trisha enable them to fill nearly any musical requirement.

In addition to performing with and managing The Differents, Joe is the long-time manager of O.DiBella Music in New Jersey, an iconic music retailer with a storied history.

A few years back Trisha and Joe made a decision to expand their popular act into a quartet. After working with several of the area’s top musicians as “guest performers”, they decided to push the envelope by adding a full-time bass player who would, in addition to playing conventional bass parts, add chordal melodies and melodic passages to the songs. Joe reached out to Jeff Carano, a veteran of the local jazz band, wedding band and club band circuit. The challenge of playing bass in such a unique fashion was just too irresistible for Jeff, and he was “pulled out of retirement” with the opportunity.

Jeff had spent decades performing with several of the Hudson Valley’s most recognized artists, including Silk & Sounds, Tony DePaolo, Murali Coryell and was the long time bassist for Four Guys in Disguise, a well known local act ironically founded by Joe! Jeff was traditionally trained at the Berklee College of Music and had also achieved some modest success as a player performing with the ’70’s iconic band Orleans, Grammy nominated singer Robbie Dupree, and jazz legends Tommy Tedesco and Herb Ellis. The “no rules, no preconceptions” concept instilled by Joe and Trisha was the perfect platform for Jeff’s style, and very quickly the “Differents”, in their trio format, began to gel into a very powerful yet compact unit.

In addition to performing with The Differents, Jeff is the co-founder of the Babicz Guitar Company, an innovative brand with legendary artists, a global market and several patents granted for their cutting-edge technology.

The final piece of the project was Dave Goodrich. A mainstay on the Hudson Valley Music scene since 1985, Dave honed his craft playing clubs and concert halls in New York City as well as working as Tech and Art director for the 4 largest clubs in Manhattan in the 90’s. (Limelight, USA, Tunnel and Palladium.)

He has also worked the technical end of Drums for Sam Ash 48th Street, Modern Drummer Magazine for 7 years and toured Nationally as well as Internationally with Hair Metal Band Skidrow as Rob Affuso’s drum technician. Being equally adept at large auditoriums and high energy dance clubs, Dave has been an integral part of some of the area’s most popular dance and club bands. After finishing a term of 2/plus years drumming for Nuts in a Blender, he has been able to take the most effective components of performing on a big stage and skillfully apply them to the unique format of “The Differents”, gratefully accepting the challenge of drumming for this gracefully talented group of musicians.

Utilizing an innovative and scaled down percussion kit (which he and Joe Pallo designed), Dave has brought a very dynamic element to the sound of the Differents, one that is exhilarating and complimentary at the same time.

In addition to performing with The Differents, Dave owns and manages several rental properties in the Hudson Valley.
