New Norm Band

Song-writing and Crowd Connection are the cornerstones of The New Norm, which hails from the Greater-Danbury, CT area. Lead Singer/guitarist, Eddie Baci, along with multi-instrumentalists, Ben Howell (Lead Guitar/Vocals), Bob Cullen (Bass) and David Wilms (Drums), create powerful and moving music that combines a Rock edge, with power-pop hooks.

Since their inception in 2015, The New Norm have set out on a mission to bring art, creativity and a solid edge back into the indie music scene. The New Norm’s message is about moving beyond the “what was,” and embracing the “what is!” It’s about finding the power and courage to rise above adversity!

The story of The New Norm actually begins close over 10-years ago, when Eddie Baci and David Wilms collaborated on numerous projects, mainly cover bands. As they could, Baci and Wilms would infuse original music into their bands’ deep well of catchy rock covers, to the point where most show attendees could not tell the difference between covers and originals! They knew for some time that they had something worth standing up and listening too! In late 2012, the last and final incarnation of cover bands dissolved and Baci took to the studio to begin work on a solo album, “High Above the Ruins,” with Wilms lending his help along the way! In the end, the solo project was a great success, with a full-length record released in April 2015.

With the solo project complete and the solid union between Baci and Wilms still intact, the two set out on a mission to round out what would become their next great adventure, “The New Norm,” an ALL-ORIGINAL and truly unique lineup that would bring a fresh perspective into a local scene that was craving “something different” from what was dubbed as the Norm. Baci and Wilms knew that if they stuck to their ideals and work-ethic, great people and great things would follow!

Cue Mr. Bob Cullen! Cullen, a well-accomplished, multi-instrumentalist, has been enjoying tremendous success in the cover band scene with his project, Uncorked. He and Baci already had a friendship and had been criss-crossing paths musically for some time. When Baci approached Cullen about starting an original rock band, Bob was all over it! With slick lines, Cullen’s bass playing adds just the right amount of groove to the band’s power-pop formula.

Ramping things up even further, the band added the musical prowess of Mr. Ben Howell. Howell, a masterful multi instrumentalist and singer, adds significant depth to the music with both additional rhythm guitar and blistering solos, along with harmonies and occasional saxophone.

2016 is bringing more shows and the band’s debut EP. Look for the band to be making their way around the New York/Connecticut area this year, with their eyes set on growing their fanbase with a true Grass-Roots effort.

The New Norm; It’s not about “trying,” it’s about “DOING!”
