FOODSTOCK 9 AT THE CHANCE THEATRE TO BENEFIT THE FOOD BANK OF THE HUDSON VALLEY AND THE CHILDREN’S HOME OF POUGHKEEPSIE ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3

(November 27, 2016) – On Saturday, December 3 The Chance Theatre in Poughkeepsie will be host Foodstock 9, a special fundraiser to benefit the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley and the Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie.

The event will take place from 5:00 – 11:00 PM and will consist of live music performances and entertainment by several amazing local artists:

Swanky Jones

Swanky Jones has blown the doors off many world-famous venues such as Ultra Music Festival, Pacha NYC, Webster Hall, and Hammerstein Ballroom. In his local stomping ground, the Hudson Valley, he’s been the special guest at all the hottest parties, including Stereo, Club Light, Plan 9, and Club X just to name a few. His presence was felt on the airwaves too with his Friday night “Status” mixshow on local EDM radio station DriveFX. He has held over 20 residencies in his career as a DJ, with some of the most recent being Orient Ultralounge, Control Nightclub, and his outdoor patio night at River Terrace. Swanky has rocked the peak hour slot at just about every relevant venue in the area, and throws invite-only events at least once a month.

picCo-founder of the digital record label and DJ conglomerate “Club Benders”, his contributions to the music world and to the local nightlife have been noticed by many. Swanky has also been involved with charities such as the National MS Society and the Hearing Loss Association of America, and Foodstock.

 

ABOUT THE FOODSTOCK FUND

Each year, proceeds from ticket sales and raffles go to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, which serves shelters and soup kitchens in six counties here in the Hudson Valley, and to The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie, which provides a range of services to neglected and abused children in the Hudson River Region. Food donations collected at the show will be donated to Dutchess Outreach in Poughkeepsie.

Food donations will go to Dutchess Outreach. Toy donations will go to a new holiday initiative run by the City of Poughkeepsie PBA and the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department NY Local 596.

THE CHILDREN’S HOME OF POUGHKEEPSIE

childrens-home-of-poughkeepsieEstablished in 1847, the Children’s Home provides a range of services and programs giving hope and healing to abused and neglected the children in the Hudson River Region. The Children’s Home served 397 children and their family members last year. The Home provides a full range of residential services including campus-based care, community-based group homes and boarding homes, and independent living apartments. It also provides regular foster care and intensive therapeutic foster homes. The Children’s Home of Poughkeepsie provides a safe and nurturing environment that improves lives and empowers at-risk children and families in the Hudson Valley and surrounding communities.

DUTCHESS OUTREACH

Dutchess Outreach acts as a catalyst for community revitalization and exists in Dutchess County as an advocate and provider of hunger and relief services in order to ensure that everyone, regardless of income, has access to fresh, healthy food, and the support they need.  Dutchess Outreach exists to widen food access, increase advocacy, and provide emergency relief by offering 6 vital services for those in need within our community.

dutchess-outreachTo act as an advocate through the referral and follow-up process for individuals/families and find appropriate resources which will enable them to meet their basic needs on a long-term basis. To act as an advocate by promoting community awareness of social problems and generating support for a system wide improvement in response to human needs.

CITY OF POUGHKEEPSIE PBA

The City of Poughkeepsie PBA is comprised of active and retired Officers, Detectives, Sergeants and Lieutenants from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.

Members work in several divisions within the department: 
Patrol Division: As with any Police Department the patrol division is the backbone of the police department, responding to all emergency calls and all calls for service from the residents of the City of Poughkeepsie.

Neighborhood Recovery Unit: Plain clothes unit, which investigates quality of life crimes, as well as vice crimes (narcotics and prostitution) within the City

Community Policing Unit: Members are assigned to both vehicle patrol as well as bike patrol. Members handle quality of life crimes as well as crime prevention. Members work closely with the community to solve crime problems within the city.

Traffic Division: Members are assigned to both cars and motorcycles: Members enforce the vehicle and traffic laws in the city. Most members are also certified in accident reconstruction.

Training and Development: Members are responsible for the training of all City of Poughkeepsie Police Department personnel. The members also hold training for police officers from all over the state.

Dutchess County Drug Task Force: Members investigate narcotics crimes with in the City of Poughkeepsie as well as Dutchess County. A member of the City of Poughkeepsie PBA currently heads up the Task force

Detective Division: Detectives investigate crimes from Petit Larcenies to Homicides.

Crime Analysis Unit: Members analyze crime trends and patterns within the City and pass along the information to the supervisors and the other units.

Juvenile Division: Handle juvenile crimes within the city
