JAZZ FOR A CAUSE – PEEKSKILL JAZZ AND BLUES FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

(July 18, 2016) – The BeanRunner Cafe is proud to present Jazz for a Cause as part of Peekskill’s 10th Annual Jazz & Blues Festival. On Saturday, July 23, the community is invited  to two amazing shows to benefit Support Connection, Inc., an organization providing support to women with breast and ovarian cancer. Donation at door.

Jimbo Ro will take the stage at 3:00 PM. James “Jimbo Ro” is Jazz Funk guitarist with West Indian roots who plays a mixture of jazz and Caribbean music. jimbo ro

For the past 5 years Jimbo, as Co-leader of the AndJam band, has performed as a featured artist at Martha’s Vineyard Jazz & Blues Summerfest. He has received two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships, and studied with John Lewis, John Corigliano, George Morel, and Jack Wilkins. James and his wife Andrea, are the Winners of the 1997 President’s Award for songwriting from the Songwriters Guild of America for excellence in the Art and Craft of songwriting.

The Donna Singer Quartet will take the stage at 5:00 PM. World renowned Donna Singer is electrifying with her remarkable repertoire of jazz, swing, rhythm and blues. 

donna singerHer summer tour kicks off with jazz performances in Italy and Switzerland; the Pavilion on 75th Street in Central Park, NYC, the Peekskill Jazz & Blues Festival at the BeanRunner Cafe, and concludes with a performance at the MET at Lincoln Center Recital Hall, NYC.

The BeanRunner Cafe is located at 201 S. Division Street in Peekskill.
