POET GOLD’S POELODIES: SUPPORTING WOMEN ARTISTS ALONG THE HUDSON THIS WEDNESDAY AT THE FALCON UNDERGROUND
(March 20, 2017) – Poet Gold hosts a March celebration of women artists along the Hudson this Wednesday evening at the Falcon Underground.
The Falcon’s highly encouraged DONATION policy will support these wonderful living artists.
Jen Herman
A 2016 First Place Awardee in the Milkweed Editions Poetry Annual Submissions – Jen is a spoken word artist, and a passionate social justice advocate working to address sexual violence response and prevention. Herman is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work.

Ayo Nish! has been featured on Kiss 96.1, K104.7, Jamz 96.3, WCDB 90.1, Hot 99.1, and SXSW in Austin, Texas. She’s opened for Flo Rida, DJ Funkmaster Flex, Day 26, DJ
Jazzy Joyce, among others. Her songwriting and production team has worked with Maybach Music Group, Young Money, The Roots, Jim Jones, Grafh, DJ Toomp, Patchwerk, Fabo, and Pastor Troy.
Hailing from Newburgh NY, a city struggling with youth violence, Nish is committed to social transformation through the arts, working in partnership with the Department of Education to put programs into action. Nish has recently begun working with NYC cultural institutions, the Queens Museum and Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art & Storytelling. You’ll hear the message in her music, and see it in her accomplishments with youth.

Puerto Rican vocalist Taína Asili carries on the tradition of her ancestors, fusing past and present struggles into one soulful and defiant voice. Her newest artistic work is with la Banda Rebelde (the Rebel Band), a six piece ensemble based in Albany, NY. This dynamic force brings love, resistance, and ancestral remembrance to venues, festivals, conferences and political events across the globe. Powerful vocals laid over an energetic fusion of Afro-Latin, reggae, and rock, the band’s eclectic style offers a sound that spans continents, with lyrics sung in multiple languages. Taína Asili’s voice exudes strength of Spirit, inspiring audiences to dance to the movement of rebellion.

Cloud Bartoli writes songs with a great folk sound, as a way to process this life and tap into the hopeful heartbeat of humanity and consists of the following ingredients:
7 Years of Catholic School
6 years of coming to terms with her sexuality
5 years of vegetable farming
4 years of studying Ecology & Religion at Susquehanna University
3 days a week at the gym (that’s the goal)
2 many feelings (if there’s such a thing)
1 piece of toast with peanut butter each morning

Gold’s poetry balances the written word with performance, delivering Spoken Word Poetry that is both transformative and entertaining. She is the New York State Dutchess County recipient of the “2014 Individual Artist Tier Grant” awarded by Arts Mid-Hudson funded by NYSCA. Gold has received numerous commissions for original poems – most recently by the world renowned Omega Institute for their 2014 ‘Women Serving Women Summit”.
