PINK FLOYD is an internationally acclaimed psychedelic and progressive rock band that created expansive, intense, and challenging soundscapes instead of made-for-radio pop singles. With critically and commercially successful concept-based albums including The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), The Wall (1979), and others, Floyd has cemented their place in rock music history as one of the greats. It’s time to pay them tribute!
The amazing songs that adults in the program will get to play in this Summer’s tribute to Pink Floyd serves as a reminder of how vast and unforgettable their extensive catalog is. Play songs that will make your Summer rock, including: Money, Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2, Time, Wish You Were Here,Have a Cigar, Comfortably Numb, and many more!
Tap in to the sonic textures that Pink Floyd created time and again, incorporating many genres and sounds to contribute to an amazing overall sound. Featuring memorable and well-timed arrangements, melodic and gutsy guitar riffs and solos, and fantastic overall musicianship, this music can challenge any adult rocker on guitar, bass, drums, keys, or vocals. Play some Floyd this Summer!
Rehearses Thursdays starting June 30, 2016 from 8:15-10:15 PM. Performs in late September or early October at a local venue.
Both FUNK AND SOUL are feel-good genres of music that rose to prominence in 1950s and 1960s America. Growing out of gospel and R&B, soul emphasized funky rhythms, tense and virtuous vocals, hand claps, and call-and response band interaction. And right behind it came rhythmic and danceable funk that took the emphasis off melody and harmony, bringing the rhythm section to the front in complex, interlocking rhythms.

The artists that dominate these genres composed some of the most memorable and fun songs of the 20th Century, and now you can play them all Summer long! Join funk and soul legends James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Sly & the Family Stone, Otis Redding, Parliament, Wilson Pickett,Earth, Wind & Fire, and many more during this Thursday night party.

This show can challenge the skill set of any developing musician. With intricate rhythms all over the board, enthusiastic and iconic vocals to reproduce, and tight band arrangements to hone, this is a project that will let any adult have a blast for the Summer season.
