Genre: Rock, Blues, Indie Rock
One late night in 2013 in the Lower East Side, an eclectic group of New York City musicians created the garage blues band, Animal Reporters. The band mixes elements of classic and modern rock into a vintage rock n’ roll dance party, embodying New York City’s raw and powerful energy in their live shows and unique sound.
Within a year of forming the band, Animal Reporters have enspirited some of downtown’s best venues, including Webster Hall, Mercury Lounge, Bowery Electric, and Pianos. With hits like “Mailman,” and “Little Mama,” Animal Reporters offer the soul of a drifting cowboy with the funk of a 70’s Warhol happening. Dave Gelb fronts the band with an incomparable indie charm along with Johnny Marx dazzling on the keys, smiling the entire time. The Van Deusen brothers, Colin on bass and Chris on guitar, complete the doo-wop swag of the group, but often the eyes are drawn to the back line where drummer Eric Sands adds flare-laden fills to the driving beat. Animal Reporters are currently playing around New York in support of their new EP, “Gorilla Washington”.
