Barry Wiesenfeld has spent decades in the music business wearing many hats – mostly as a freelance bassist (but occasionally music director, arranger, producer, co-writer, etc.), and covering many styles including (but not limited to) rock, Celtic, big band swing, musicals, classical, country, folk, latin jazz. These days, Wiesenfeld primarily works as a freelancing side man (note: while he loves freelancing, he is not opposed to committing to the right project).
Wiesenfeld understands that one’s reputation is nearly as important as where they put their fingers, and he prides himself as being completely professional and reliable in every way with a long list of credentials including major venues, recordings, and international tours (but prefers local gigs!).
Many factors can go in to making a gig a “good” gig: musical satisfaction, career expansion, great pay, and so forth. Any ONE of these (or any combination) would get Wiesenfeld’s attention.
Wiesenfeld has been involved with many quality songwriters in the past (Grammy winners, etc.), but at the moment he is focused on playing original material.
