Minotaur’s Redemption

Genre: Metal/Thrash/Folk

A summary of the traditional Ancient Greek myth of the minotaur is as follows: Through invoking Poseidon’s wrath by not sacrificing a great white bull, King Minos was punished by the Gods via forcing his wife, Pasiphae, to fall in love with the white bull. Her union with the animal and unfaithfulness to her husband resulted in the birth of the minotaur: a half man, half bull monstrosity. Enraged by the bastard child, King Minos had the great inventor Daedalus build a labyrinth for the beast – a complex maze from which it could not escape. It lived and died there, eventually slain by the hero Theseus who answered King Minos’ challenge to slay his wife’s bovine offspring.

Instead of accepting this cruel tale of infidelity and a child born out of wedlock and sentenced to solitude, misery, and death at the hands of a tyrant father, we envision a different tale, full of hope, retribution, and reclamation. We seek to write a new history, casting light on the wickedness and folly of King Minos and offering a chance for redemption for the unwanted, abandoned son. One where, instead of being imprisoned and only to be slain by some greek prince, the minotaur breaks free from his confines and inflicts his wrath upon those who would exile him to the shadowy stone corners of the labyrinth with the might of a raging bull and the anger of one who was wrongly imprisoned.

THIS is the story where we learn to cast off our shackles and embrace our identity. THIS is the story where we take back what is most precious to us – a chance to live our lives free of imprisonment and persecution.
THIS is the story of REDEMPTION!
