Spillway Band –  playing an eclectic mix of rock, country, oldies, R&B, blues & originals

What’s in a name…and who knew it would be so hard to come up with one for a band? Well, it is a difficult task, when three people are trying to agree on one. There was no consensus for weeks until they found their inspiration for the band’s name in the beauty of the Ashokan Reservoir and its spillway. All of the band members hold fond memories of the area for various reasons, so it is a fitting name for their group.

The Spillway Band was created out of a love for music and the desire to continue playing live for an appreciative fan base. The band is made up of Jon Coghill on guitar and vocals, singing drummer, Bob Schnitzer, and J.B. Randall on bass and vocals. Each member brings their unique talent to the group creating a fresh sound, even to songs you’ve heard before, and their diverse song list will keep you dancing all night.

In various configurations, the guys have been entertaining audiences for many years, and in the last few years, two of them have averaged 85 shows per year as part of the hardest working band in Ulster County. Their success has been, in large part, due to their following of line and free form dancers.
